My Canada, My Inspiration with the Royal Canadian Mint
Since January we have all been ramping up for Canada's BIG 150th birthday right across the country. You've seen the commercials, billboards and clothes all getting ready to celebrate. I am really excited to share that the Royal Canadian Mint is taking it one step further. Not only are they celebrating, but they are creating art that we can all get our hands on.
Back in 2015, the mint launched a contest called My Canada, My Inspiration, and it invited Canadians nation wide to celebrate what it means to be Canadian and design a coin of their own. After narrowing the thousands of entries to 25 they were then voted on online narrowing it down further to 5 winners total!
The coolest part? The designers of the Canada 150 quarter and loonie are from right here in South Western Ontario!
I absolutely love to hear these two speak about their designs and what Canada means to them. Take a couple minutes and check out their interviews.
I mean how incredible is Joelle? At such a young age, and her coin is also available in a colour version.
