Random Unsolicited Advice (RANT)

It has been a while since I have written a mommy rant and it has happened to often for me not to write about it. I am shocked and amazed at some of the things that moms/women will say to Shaun and I about how we should be raising our little one. Here is a SMALL example of things people have said.
** A was in line a Tim Hortons to get a much needed coffee and the babe was making noise (he had just found his voice and he likes to hear it) The woman in front of me said to me "you should give him a soother - he wouldn't be making all of that noise" Well first off - he won't take a soother, but why should I silence my son?? I was so happy that the woman behind me came to my rescue and said "I so miss the first sounds that come from a baby, enjoy it!" I was shocked.
** I was in line at Winner's and the little one was chewing on the side of his BabyBjorn carrier. I believe that he is teething because he will put just about anything in his mouth right now first and formost his fist. The woman behind me said "you should really be feeding him it is obvious that he is starving" Starving?? I had literaly fed him 10 minutes prior.
** Shaun and I were out looking at some new developments - when we were ready to leave the sales office Shaun asked me if I should put his hat on. I said no, just put up his hood as we are only a 10 (at the very most) step from the car. So out we went and the second we got outside a woman scolded us for not having a hat on the baby! I was so angry. I am not taking my child out mountain climbing in Alaska......
** Shaun was out at the grocery store with the little guy and he was getting a little fussy - so he handed him a crumpled up bag (and ort stoller is back facing so he and Shaun were face to face) A woman walked up to Shaun and told him that a bag was not a toy. Really lady??
I am always so shocked when women make these comments - because I am sure that we were all first time parents at some point and I am sure that they were not perfect parents!! So ladies please........be nice and keep your advice and opinions to yourself!
Happy Long Weekend!!

You Use Cloth Diapers.......Really?
By Amy on May 16, 2012 | In In real life | Send feedback »
Look at my little STUD in his AppleCheeks Cloth Diapers.
I have written several posts pre-baby about our intentions to Cloth Diaper our babe but I thought that I should write a follow up now that we have been doing it for 4 months.
Before the little guy got here I was really curious as to how it was going to go and to be honest - it has been great! Yes I am doing a little more laundry than usual but ya know what - you do more laundry when you have a little one anyway so whats 1 more load every other day? He has NEVER had a diaper rash and I really believe that it is because of the cloth diapers also the amount of money I have saved is HUGE. Plus look how darn cute he is - and I try and match the colour of diaper to what he is wearing - yup I'm a nerd.
So why AppleCheeks? Well I liked that it was a company that was started by 2 moms and of course that they are Canadian!! Not sure if you watch Dragon's Den but these hard working gals were on the show and they got a deal!! Check it out below:
If you are interested you just check them out HERE. It is so super easy - and we are doing a fantastic thing for the enviornment!
Disclaimer - I bought all of the diapers myself and these are my own opinions and thoughts about Cloth Diapering and AppleCheeks.
Hangin in his Bumbo
By Amy on May 16, 2012 | In In real life | Send feedback »
Now that my little guy is able to hold his little melon up he is able to use his little Bumbo chair. This is great because he is a curious little guy and likes to see what is going on with mom and dad. I am a huge baby wearing freak but he is getting heavy and I also think that he likes his freedom.
The best thing about this chair is that it supports his back and leaves his arms free to swing around but keeps his legs in, and he isn't going anywhere. So as you see above he enjoys just hanging out beside mom, he comes along with me to the kitchen so that I can get dinner made, and of course modelling new hats to send pictures off to grammy.
Now I have heard other moms say that their babes are not big fans of the Bumbo but my little guy enjoys being part of what is going on on this allows him to be. I brought it with me to my parents on Mothers Day so that he could sit with all of us at the table and everyone could sit and eat at the same time - BONUS!!
