DIY – Thing 1 and Thing 2 Costumes

There is nothing I love more than a good costume party!! Friends of ours were throwing a costume party for their daughters first birthday.  I love this idea because when you have little ones I feel like we dress them up for Halloween for a total of an hour.  This way the kiddos have a chance to wear their costumes twice.

I knew that I wanted them to be Thing 1 and Thing 2 and didn't want to spend the money on costumes that wouldn't fit them well so I figured out a way to do them myself.  First I hit up Staples for Iron On Transfers and then Dollerama for a couple of blue boas.

I then got on my computer to make the Thing 1 and 2 logos – and one for Shaun too!

Shaun was nice enough to iron on the transfers for me.  At first I was searching for all red jumpers.  I could not find them anywhere.  It is next near to impossible to find just plain red, everything has some sort of design or wording on it.

So I decided to go to Walmart and I'm glad I did.  I got both the kids red pants for only $4 each.  They can wear them again – BONUS! I than got them red shirts in their sizes and just turned them inside out and put the transfer on the inside.  The shirts were only $3 and again, they will be able to wear them again.

For the hats I just got a couple of hats that the kids were growing out of plugged in my glue gun and just started gluing chunks of the blue boa to it.  They looks fantastic but were kinda messy.  We left a trail of feathers wherever we went wink

So check out my little THINGS!! Shane was totally wiped after the party and his hat was toast by the end of the party.

I will have more great pictures of the whole family on Halloween.  What are your kiddos being for Halloween?  Do you go the DIY route or buy?
