I would like to introduce to you one of my all time favourite treats! They are Mars Bar Rice Krispie squares. They are not the most glamorous looking squares but where they lack in beauty they more than make it up in the yumminess department!!
Over the weekend I headed to our favourite place to shop – Walmart. I picked up some last minute decorations for the house, a few pumpkins and the simple ingredients for this recipe. I am a big fan of Walmart's great value products. Fantastic products at a super affordable price point.
So let's get started – you need the following:
- 3/4 cup of butter
- 3 cups of Rice Krispies
- 1 1/2 Cups of Milk Chocolate Chips
- 6 Mars Bars (or 20 mini Mars Bars)
Pop Mars bars and butter into a pot and melt on low heat. (it takes everything in me not to lick the spoon during this step!)
Once smooth pour over the Rice Krispies until all is covered by the chocolate mixture.
Then press evenly into a greased pan.
Pour chocolate chips over the top and pop into the oven under the broiler for a minute. **Tip – keep an eye on it as they warm up quickly and you don't want them to burn. (let's just say it smells like burnt marshmallows)
Once done spread the chocolate around with a spoon and them pop into the fridge to harden. I like them cold and hard, my husband warm and soft. They are pretty fantastic both ways. The best part is that it only takes 10 minutes.
This is the perfect recipe for any left over Halloween candy you may have. Or if you are like me you will be at Walmart the day after Halloween to pick up leftover candy on sale!! Or if your kids have a few extra Mars Bars – every body wins….WINK 😉
Enjoy!!
