Traditions New and Old

This past weekend was a super family fun Christmas weekend!  I love Christmas and everything that comes with it.  Christmas was always so amazing at my house growing up and there were some traditions that we did every year and I am so excited to keep some of them up with my family and start new ones as well!

We went to cut down our tree on Sunday which we decided that we have been doing for over 20 years.  This isn't a go to the nearest parking lot and pick up a tree.  We head out to a Tree Farm, hop on the wagon with axes in hand and hand pick the tree that is just right for us!

My little monkey Shane has been going through quick the faze lately and is real big on throwing tantrums.  He (and I) am so lucky to have a couple of crazy aunties that kept him preoccupied and having a good time!

It didn't take long for us to find the tree that we wanted!  Yes it is super tall and we did need to cut about a good foot off the bottom but the colour was great and it is nice and full – no holes.  Stay tuned for my post with all of my new ornaments from Urban Barn. Have you entered to win a $50 gift card yet?

On Saturday we headed to my father's family Christmas party.  Why you ask?  Well because my dad was Santa!  Too funny!  Shane was a bit better this year (no screaming) but there was no way he was sitting on Santa's lap.  One day we will all have a good laugh at how scared he was of his Grumpa/Santa.

And of course my sisters and mom had to get in with a picture with Santa also.  Santa and his gals!

What are some of your favourite traditions?  New or old.

Our tradition of always spending Christmas together. Now with my own family, we try to spend Christmas with as much of our relatives during Christmas Eve (noche buena) and Christmas Day 🙂
