New Year, New You?

Another year means another year of sitting around trying to figure out what New Year's Resolutions to pick.  I am sure that you can relate to this,  I'm not the only one trying to be creative or to figure out how I am going to make it to February right?  I actually stopped making New Year's Resolutions a few years back and started to make goals and to start them on a different date than January 1st.  There is just to much pressure, and too much disappointment if I failed!

2013 was a pretty awesome year for us!  A new house, new baby and fantastic growth for the blog. Now what?  I knew that it was important to really think about some new goals for myself, my family and for my relationship with my husband.  I had made vision boards in the past but this time I thought it would be fun to do it with Shaun.

So I collected a whole bunch of magazines, hit up dollerama for supplies and got a couple of beers and our date night began!  What better way to hang out with your hubby, discuss your goals and learn more about the person you are with. We had a lot of fun.  I cut out pictures, words and sayings that  I wanted to put on my board.

Once I had a whole bunch of clippings I started to organize them.

I decided to focus on a few different sections.

1 – Relationship – now that Shaun's commute is much longer than before he is gone from home longer.  Both of the babies are keeping us super busy also.  I put reminders and pictures on the board so that I remember to put time into our relationship.  A date night can be a movie and bowl of popcorn or vision boards.  Regardless we are spending time together and just enjoying being together.

2 – Family – Life is busy and hectic.  I want to be a fantastic mother and have goals as a unit not just for myself.

3 – Fitness – I am ready to get back to my pre-baby weight!  I have decided to start taking a little bit of time just for me and get my behind back to the gym!

4 – Vacation – we work hard and every now and then I would love to take a vacation.  We have just returned from Cuba and I am already dreaming of being back on a beach – or Disney 😉

5 – Work – Last year was just so awesome for the blog and my private clients.  I am uber pumped for this year and all that it will bring.  I cut out logo's of brands that I want to work with as pictures and sayings to keep me on track.

6 – A few wants – so there may be a purse, pair of shoes and clothes that I have had my eye on.  Why not put them on my board to encourage me to work hard so that I can treat myself?

TA -DA!! My finished product!

I am really pleased with how it turned out!  I have put it on my framed cork board and will be hanging it in my office this week.  This is my idea of the New, New Years Resolutions!  Having my goals and dreams right in front of me will keep things fresh and in my face!

Have you ever made a Vision Board?  Have you made New Years Resolutions this year? Why or Why not?  I would love to hear about it!

I should totally do this with my hubby, it would be interesting to see what we come up with, and how our goals overlap and are different.

I like this idea. I have never done one. I need to start. I keep mine in my head and focus on a word that motivates me to act throughout the year.

Great idea and vision board, Amy!
I use to do that as well when I was younger and truly, it’s a great motivation even for us as adults!
