Upcycled Chairs from Grandma
Man am I ever a lucky gal! I have these visions when I see furniture and my handy hubby makes it happen! This is the second upcycle that we have done with my grandmas old furniture and I am so pleased with the way that it turned out. In the condo we did not have a dining room set, well because we didn't have a dining room. LOL!
So when she was getting rid of her dining set I saw an opportunity to make it something special. The best part of this project is it didn't take a whole bunch of tools.
- A great pair of scissors
- A staple gun
- Wood measured for the seat
- A sharpie
- Foam for the seat
- Our choice of fabric
So these chairs are made of macrame on the seat. Although it looks kinda cool the orange colour just did not make sense in our house and they really were not comfortable to sit on. So the scissors came out and we cut if all off. It took a little while as we had to unscrew the legs and back to make sure we got it all out. Wood was cut to fit perfectly inside the base of the chair, which was then toped with foam. Fabric was measure and stapled to the back and placed back in the base. The best part of this upcycle is if (and when) we want a change we can just change the fabric on the seat and we will have a brand new chair.
** and just to be clear – whenever I reference we I really mean Shaun 😉
I am so pleased with the outcome! They look totally beautiful and we have tons of compliments and they are original and you can't find them in any store!
Stay tuned as we have more DIY and Upcycle projects coming up soon!
